Wrong Dates & Public Holidays

Hola!

Welcome to our blog. James and I decided to travel the world about a year ago and have finally arrived at our first location. I decided to write a blog to keep everyone at home up to date and to record some of our memories. I hope that you enjoy our posts...

We had our first travel hiccup before we even got out of Melbourne. Our ticket was for the 18th of February, however, due to an incompetent travel agent we thought it was for the 20th of February! I was almost in tears at the check-in desk. Luckily QANTAS took pity on us (and had empty seats on the flights) and got us on our way. Lesson learnt: don't rely on travel agents and double check everything they give you.

So, after a few tears at the airport saying goodbye to family and a long flight, we arrived in Buenos Aires. Unknown to us, it was a public holiday which meant a long wait to get through customs. The holiday was to celebrate Carnivale so we got to see some small street parades with lots of drums and bikini clad women shaking their booties. My favourite part of the whole thing is that since the government are generous they give a second public holiday the day after for everyone to recover from the party! I think I should come live here.
